MJ Vilardi is an Emmy-award winning video and film producer with a diverse and colorful background in broadcasting, production, and specialized executive training. He is CEO of Vilardi Creative Associates, which offers creative consultation, production services, and a new series of innovative workshops for media professionals.
After studying Communications at Antioch College, Vilardi began his career working on local programs at a small urban UHF station. He went on to serve as Design Director for the CBS affiliate in Washington DC, where he used cutting-edge digital animation to create an animated zoom down the Potomac and into the city for an award-winning news open. While Creative Director for a major post-production facility, Capitol Video Communications (now Henninger), Vilardi worked with GE, Marriott, the CIA, and many Fortune 500 companies.
As an independent producer/director, Vilardi made the energetic educational rap video Don’t Copy That Floppy, which has been shown in classrooms around the world. Awards for his work include an Emmy, a Cine Golden Eagle, numerous Addy Awards for TV spots, and several film festival honors for an independent film, Artichoke.
As a communications consultant Vilardi helps clients fine tune their message and leverage the power of new media. He currently has several projects in pre-production, including a web-based show about ADHD, and a documentary film called NITRO, about the challenges facing a small town in West Virginia.
